Mt Cook
Mt Cook’s Alpine Park has the highest mountains and the largest glaciers in New Zealand.
Location: In the centre of the South Island amongst the Southern Alps. Aoraki Mount Cook village (Hermitage Hotel) lies within the park.
Driving time from Christchurch to Mt Cook is approximately 4hrs 45 mintues
Driving time from Queenstown to Mt Cook is approximately 3hrs 45 minutes
General Information:
Mount Cook has a height of 3753 metres (its Maori name is Aoraki, meaning Cloud Piercer) this is New Zealand's highest mountain. It towers above all Southern Alps range and stands out miles away.
The Richardson Glacier is very picturesque. You will land above the Glacier and look down into it. There are mountains surrounding the area and with the view above and below this makes a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photos.
The Tasman Glacier offers a different style of wedding. Travel by boat out on the Lake to find a large iceberg. If you are in luck you will be able to marry on one of these huge ice islands. The pictures show just how beautiful and unique this wedding is.
Weather: The climate within Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is very typical of a mountainous area. The tepmerture will range from -10 to over 30 in the summer.
The Northerly winds in October/November can prevent the Helicopters from flying, however our team will do there utmost to get you flying if at all possible. We understand this is your dream and we all want to make this a reality for you.
