Mt Cook

Mt Cook’s Alpine Park has the highest mountains and the largest glaciers in New Zealand.

Location: In the centre of the South Island amongst the Southern Alps.   Aoraki Mount Cook village (Hermitage Hotel) lies within the park.

Driving time from Christchurch to Mt Cook is approximately 4hrs 45 mintues

Driving time from Queenstown to Mt Cook is approximately 3hrs 45 minutes

General Information:

Mount Cook has a height of 3753 metres (its Maori name is Aoraki, meaning Cloud Piercer) this is New Zealand's highest mountain. It towers above all Southern Alps range and stands out miles away. 

The Richardson Glacier is very picturesque.  You will land above the Glacier and look down into it.  There are mountains surrounding the area and with the view above and below this makes a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photos.

The Tasman Glacier offers a different style of wedding.  Travel by boat out on the Lake to find a large iceberg.  If you are in luck you will be able to marry on one of these huge ice islands.  The pictures show just how beautiful and unique this wedding is.

Weather:  The climate within Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is very typical of a mountainous area. The tepmerture will range from -10 to over 30 in the summer.

The Northerly winds in October/November can prevent the Helicopters from flying, however our team will do there utmost to get you flying if at all possible.  We understand this is your dream and we all want to make this a reality for you.

                                                                             6.  After obtaining your Marriage Licence we will
                                                                             go to a coffee shop to go through your wedding
                                                                             arrangements together.

4.30pm                                                                Upon checking in please ask reception to pass on a message to Nyree that you have arrived. She will then come down to meet you both and go through your vows and schedule for the following morning.

I would recommend for you to go down to the Alpine Restaurant to have your breakfast or you will be very hungry by lunchtime.
 
7.45am                                                               Your Hair & Make-up Artists will arrive at your room
 
9.00am                                                                Finish up with Hair & Make-up preparations and now put on your wedding attire, Helen & Debby will assist you with this.
 
9.15am                                                                 Please meet Nyree in the foyer area, she will be able to advise you what the weather conditions are like. 
From here you will follow Nyree to the hanger.

9.45am                                                                Check-in for your flight
 
Anna your photographer & Graeme your celebrant will be awaiting your arrival. 
 
10.00am                                                             Depart to fly to The Richardson Glacier
Ceremony will begin once settled on the Richardson     Glacier
             
Anna & your pilot will be your witnesses
 
Celebrate your Marriage with a glass of bubbles
 
Anna will take photos through out your ceremony.
 
11.00am                                                             You will arrive back at the airport.
 
Anna will now guide you to another location for further photos. Please follow her in your car.
 
12’ish                                                                    Your Picnic Hamper will be available to pick up at the Hermitage Hotel.
 
 
7.00pm                                                               Dinner
                                                                                5 course gourmet meal in the Panorama Restaurant
 
 
Follow Day
                                                                                Breakfast in the Alpine Restaurant
 
10am                                                                    Check out of the Hermitage Hotel
